Selous Mbega Camp - Selous Game Reserves.

The Selous Mbega camp is situated in its own forest reserve on the banks of the Rufiji River, just outside the eastern Mtemere gate of Selous Game Reserve.
The lodge is set up with twelve safari tents as well as a stone house with two rooms plus a large two bedroom suite/ family suite that are all set up along the mighty Rufiji River. Just 500 metres away from the border of the Selous Game Reserve, in its own private 60 ha reverie forest reserve.A green ceiling of tree branches and leaves, providing almost always shade throughout the day, covers the camp area. These trees are sometimes visited by a variety of monkeys, including the Angolan Black & White Colobus monkey, known in Kiswahili as Mbega mweupe, or Mbega, to which the camp owes its name.

Restaurant.
The Restaurant and Bar are situated under a palm leave thatched roof around a Mahogany tree, facing the Rufiji River. There is also an additional sundown area and Bar. A resident troop of black and white Columbus monkeys frolic around the bar area. A viewing tower overlooks a seasonal waterhole

Accommodation.
There are eleven tents mostly built on wooden platforms, mosquito & insect proof, with en- suite bathrooms, and a verandah. Nine of the tents overlook the Rufiji River. One looks at a dried out waterhole at the rear of the camp.

Like all lodges and camps in the Selous, Mbega Camp offers a variety of safari options including vehicle and boat safaris within the Selous and walking safaris in the boundary forest reserve.

As you are staying outside the park you only pay National Park fees when entering on game drives; and this combined with the large rooms offers a cheaper safari option for visiting the Selous.
