Walking Safari in Ruaha National Park. Walking Safaris: Ruaha is one of the few national parks in Tanzania where walking safari is permitted when accompanied by an armed ranger. This liberty gives outdoors and nature enthusiasts an opportunity to receive an up close and person treatment of the offering in dense places where safari vehicles cannot penetrate. 'As you tread cautiously through the bush, your senses are acutely attuned to the strong smells of the African wilderness and the close presence of game. You are accompanied by an armed escort and guide, to interpret the spoor and translate the action that went before you. -Walks can only take place during the dry season (May-November). -For your security all walking safaris are accompanied by an armed Park ranger. -Walks are taken either first thing in the morning, or leaving at around 4pm.   Ruaha National Park  : Wildlife  Ruaha National Park is known for its large elephant and buffalo herds and one of its principal attractions lies in being able to see greater and lesser kudu as well as the majestic sable and roan antelope within the same area. As well as an abundance of lion, leopard and cheetah it is also home to the increasingly rare African Hunting Dog. Ruaha National Park is a great year round park due to its good all weather road network. The South West area of Tanzania where Ruaha National Park is located has the lowest rainfall in Tanzania.
