Forest Tented Lodge
Ngorongoro Forest Tented Lodge, bordering the
magnificent Ngorongoro Conservation Area and his forest,
is very near the world famous Ngorongoro Crater, in
Tanzania, home of the biggest and game rich national
parks in the world, is located in a hill with a
breathtaking landscape in Ayalabe area near Karatu.

ROOMS
The lodge is composed by luxury tents constructed over
wood platforms. From your tent you will enjoy an ender
less wonderful view. Ngorongoro Forest lodge tents are
big, over 150 square feet, fully equipped and water
proof.
They have great entrances, verandas, double ceiling and
have numerous windows with mosquito nettings. They are
fully equipped with beds (simple, queen or king size),
writing table, safari tables, chairs, closet, mirrors,
washbasins, towels, etc.
Each tent has a private en suite WC, one inside and one
outside tent shower with hot water at disposition.
RESTAURANT
Meals are served in an exclusive restaurant or in the
terraces near the campfire. All the food is fresh and of
the highest quality.
You will have local and international beverages at your
disposition that you can drink in our lounge bar. All
the crew is well trained, friendly and fully dedicated
at your service.
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Ngorongoro Forest Tented lodge is located in a
strategically place from where you can visit all the
northern Tanzania national parks and make cultural trips
and treks.
Indeed, from there you can go to Tarangire national
park, lake Manyara national park, Ngorongoro Crater,
Arusha national park and the wonderful Serengeti
national park.
To visit and really enjoy the Serengeti national park,
we recommend spend some nights in our private luxury
tented fly camps located in the middle of the Serengeti
to enjoy the true bush in the “out of Africa” style. One
unforgettable experience!
WALKING SAFARI
You can also make cultural trips to the Masai, Datoga
and Hadzabe villages, treks by foot in the Ngorongoro
Forest and his surroundings, Ngorongoro Concession area,
the Olduvai escarpment, the Karatu area, the Lake Eyasi,
descends by foot to Empakai Crater and longer treks to
Oldonyo Longai and Lake Natron.

Birdlife
in Ngorongoro
Birding is excellent in the Ngorongoro Crater and large
flocks of flamingos inhabit Lake Magadi (the large soda
lake in the south central area) giving its watery edges
a pinkish tinge when seen from a distance. A variety of
wonderful water birds can be found in the Mandusi Swamp
area.
The grasslands that cover most of the crater floor serve
as a playground for some striking ground birds. The
world's heaviest flying bird - the kori bustard - flies
somewhat ungraciously over the grasslands much to the
dismay of local ostriches, who are simply to large to
fly.
Crowned cranes, migrant storks, and the rosy throated
long claw are sure to set birders hearts aflutter. The
augur buzzard and the Egyptian vulture are the two most
impressive and visible birds of prey, catching the
thermals above the Ngorongoro Crater floor. |

Situated on the rim of an ancient collapsed
volcano, this lodge offers guests uninterrupted
views of the Ngorongoro crater, a true remaining
natural wonder. The most unique eco system on
earth is home to over 20 000 large grazing
animals, boasting the largest concentration of
predators found on the planet. Ngorongoro crater
is the largest of 9 volcanoes in this
conservation area, Oldonyo Lengai being the only
one still active. The conservation area is 8300
km squared with the crater itself having an
average diameter of 23 km. The crater covers an
area of 250 km squared and has an average depth
of 600m. There are many activities available
from the surrounding area which enhances
knowledge historically, geographically and
culturally.

Ngorongoro Wildlife:
The scale and diversity of
the Ngorongoro Crater wildlife is breathtaking. Some 30,000 animals
inhabit the Ngorongoro Crater, living alongside one another within
the steep unbroken walls of this remarkable wildlife sanctuary.
Lions rolling about in fields of white wildflowers, hyenas
persistently trying to sneak up on pink flamingos, and giant
elephants roaming the forests ... these are the kind of images that
have led to people referring to the Ngorongoro Crater as the Garden
of Eden.
