Migunga Tented Camp has a lovely setting amongst the trees in the north west corner of this area near Lake Manyara National Park.

Nestled in a quiet corner on the northwest of the lake, Migunga Tented Camp is only 5 minutes from the entrance of Lake Manyara National Park, which spreads out across the Great East African Rift Valley, dominating a vast landscape. Often called Tanzania's water wonderland due to the large number of birds and animals the lake supports, Lake Manyara NP is also famous for its' tree-climbing lions.
At Migunga you wake up in the morning with the beams of the sun finding their way through our Migunga trees. In the afternoon you can enjoy our mountain bike ride trail through Lake Manyara’s backyard or you can enjoy watching our verve monkeys. The evenings are resonating with the typical sounds of forest creatures

Accommodation.
There are 9 self-contained tents each en suite bathroom has running hot and cold water, showers and flush toilets. Each tent does have a lockable wooden door functional but slightly strange for a tent. The tents are now somewhat dated compared to many of the other tented camps on the northern circuit. They are the old green canvas ones, in need of a little love and attention.
19 green canvas tents, each of which is set on a raised platform with a private veranda. The tents all have lockable wooden doors. All have private facilities with shower and running hot and cold water. Mosquito nets are also in every tent as well as electric lights. Charging facilities for cameras and batteries are also available.

Birdlife in Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara is probably best known as a birding destination, especially for water birds. While the flamingoes once made the park famous, the Lake edge has retreated far from the usual driving routes and the flamingoes can often only be seen as a vague pink shimmer in the distance. However, near the wetlands and streams you can still see dozens of different birds - ducks, waders, egrets - and the drier sections of the park are also especially known for hornbills.

Lake Manyara Wildlife:

Elephant, giraffe, buffalo and wildebeest can be found grazing in unexpected clearings or heading towards the water to drink or wash, and the rivers and riverbeds provide scenic vistas for possible animal spotting. Warthog seem to thrive here, growing notably fat and tuckered, and it is a natural playground for baboons and monkeys. The tree-climbing lion of Lake Manyara inspire extensive theorizing as to the wonders of evolution, and are also notoriously rarely seen.
