Lake Manyara Tree Lodge offers a sophisticated blend of natural indulgence and romance. Nestled in dense forest between the lakeshore and the steep Rift Valley escarpment, the lodge is perfectly positioned to explore the park’s wealth of habitats. Set in the remote southern region of the park, you would be surprised to see another vehicle on your game drive.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge - Tanzania, Manyara
Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only lodge in the small yet diverse Lake Manyara National Park. The lodge is located in the remote southwestern region of the Lake Manyara, allowing leisurely tracking

of the park's famous tree-climbing lions, and for unimpeded viewing of the flocks of pelicans, flamingoes and buffalo cooling in the soda lake.

Although it is Tanzania's smallest park, Manyara is one of the most diverse national park in the country. The beautiful Lake Manyara covers two thirds of the park, while the rest of the Manyara ecosystem consists of steep mountainside, swamps, dense woodlands, open grassy areas and hot springs.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge seeks to maintain a low impact on the land while deriving high yield for our conservation initiatives by creating very small luxury lodges that support enormous tracts of biodiversity land, which remains untouched. At every lodge we seek out small (and sometimes not so small) but meaningful ways of putting our values into action every day. Each &Beyond lodge supports the conservation of wildlife and contributes to its neighboring communities in one way or another. In addition, we seek to limit our impact in terms of fossil fuels, the use of renewable energy, water and waste management, and recycling.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge Ten tree houses have been built on stilts, in the boughs of ancient mahogany trees, discreetly tucked away in the forest.
• Lake Manyara Tree Lodge tree houses have been crafted from local timber and makuti (palm fronds) and feature large open decks and spacious rooms with large windows to invite the flourishing forest into the luxurious elegance of each room.
• The interiors of Lake Manyara Tree Lodge tree houses are a sumptuous combination of natural fibers, pure cotton linen and contemporary furnishings. The bedroom consists of four-poster bed-like drawings and earthy, understated accessories in natural colors and textures. Overhead fans and mosquito nets as well as en suite bathrooms with baths and large twin hand basins ensure that every comfort is attended to. There is an exhilarating outdoor shower while the private verandas have
comfortable furniture and offer extensive views of the lovely forest environment.
There is a magnificent open-plan guest area with an intimate and cozy atmosphere overlooking the forest boma with enough seating for 20 people.

Birdlife in Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara is probably best known as a birding destination, especially for water birds. While the flamingoes once made the park famous, the Lake edge has retreated far from the usual driving routes and the flamingoes can often only be seen as a vague pink shimmer in the distance. However, near the wetlands and streams you can still see dozens of different birds - ducks, waders, egrets - and the drier sections of the park are also especially known for hornbills.

Lake Manyara Wildlife:

Elephant, giraffe, buffalo and wildebeest can be found grazing in unexpected clearings or heading towards the water to drink or wash, and the rivers and riverbeds provide scenic vistas for possible animal spotting. Warthog seem to thrive here, growing notably fat and tuckered, and it is a natural playground for baboons and monkeys. The tree-climbing lion of Lake Manyara inspire extensive theorizing as to the wonders of evolution, and are also notoriously rarely seen.
