Birdlife
in Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara is probably best known as a birding
destination, especially for water birds. While the
flamingoes once made the park famous, the Lake edge has
retreated far from the usual driving routes and the
flamingoes can often only be seen as a vague pink
shimmer in the distance. However, near the wetlands and
streams you can still see dozens of different birds -
ducks, waders, egrets - and the drier sections of the
park are also especially known for hornbills.

Lake Manyara Wildlife: Elephant, giraffe, buffalo and wildebeest can be found grazing in unexpected clearings or heading towards the water to drink or wash, and the rivers and riverbeds provide scenic vistas for possible animal spotting. Warthog seem to thrive here, growing notably fat and tuckered, and it is a natural playground for baboons and monkeys. The tree-climbing lion of Lake Manyara inspire extensive theorizing as to the wonders of evolution, and are also notoriously rarely seen.

Each
bungalow is a private suite with its own balcony offering panoramic
views of Lake Miwaleni and the towering escarpment.
You
may even see one of
the species of monkeys,
birds or reptiles that live in the region or catch a glimpse of one of
the many hippos residing in Lake Miwaleni. Four of our bungalows are
ideal honeymoon suites whilst another four have been designed to
comfortably accommodate our guests in wheel chairs. 
Additional features include a coffee table that easily converts from
backgammon to a checker board, writing table, mosquito nets, telephone
with access to reception and other areas of the lodge and bottled water
delivered daily with our compliments. 
Sumptuous
international cuisine and a tempting children’s menu is offered daily in
the restaurant, whilst butlers will provide drinks and snacks to you as
you rest by the pool or in one of the comfortable chairs near the bar.
Special meal requests are available with advanced notice. At night,
continue to enjoy the beauty of an African sky whilst being entertained
by the unique culture show.
